England - Middlesex - Neptune with Trident and the reverse bears a unique scene of Whaling boatmen. This merchants token half penny is known as the I. Flowlers London, with only one type known. D&H#306. Reverse legend is "PAYABLE AT I. FOWLERs LONDON. WHALE FISHERY - 1794 in exergue. It's a fairly scarce type with unique depictions for a Conder and a nice chocolate brown surface. Neptune's gaze upon the whale slaughter tells you all you need to know about how he feels about it - send in a hurricane!
You can read about whaling and some of the tokens involved at this [ link ]
