Another in the series of WWI worker scenes I think are interesting. Here this unusual design depicts a cogwheel, hammer and engineers' compass on a sky with clouds. In exergue are the words "Arbeit Bringt Brot" which means 'Work Provides Bread' - similar to the famous phrase above WWII prison/extermination camp entrances "Arbeit Macht Frei" or 'Work Will Set You Free.'
Scarcer variety w/4 sun beams over highest cloud and dashed beam at hammer handle.
