HuPoo w/"SOVIET" Counterstamp

Here is another example of a VERY RARE "Soviet" counterstamp on a 20 Cash Chinese Republic 'standard unified general' issue of Hoo Pu (Wuchang mint). This photo was sent to me by a Chinese coin dealer when I uploaded the Wa She Wong specimen seen on this site. He valued it (Dec 2010) at $240. Both show an unusual roughness on the back side of the counterstamp. The Wa She Wong example is a much better imprint and the back side is particularly rough, an effect I can not explain. While this example indicates a c/s punch that is much more worn, it also has clear differences and is not the same c/s punch. There are at least 2-3 different style "SOVIET" counter punches. Also, be sure to examine the the 'Soviet' c/s found on the authentic YSK silver dollar.
