Zhejiang Communist issue - Museum Gallery

This is a uniface lead/tin issue by a local provisional Communist government in Zhejiang (Chekiang) in the Hushan area. The legend, "Kang-bi" means the coins was issued for resisting Japanese aggression. While these issues are not listed in any western catalog they are listed in the Communist issues section of the Chinese work by Hua Guangpu, "Directory of Chinese Copper Coins." Guangpu lists them as 'Temporary subsidiary coins of the Base Area of Resistance Against Japan in the Hushan Region of Zhejiang Province.' There are 3 varieties and 2 denominations among the 3. These saw a very short duration because the war was soon over. Listed as struck in a lead-tin alloy cut from some kind of metal scrap. RARE!
