Kingdom of Shu (221 - 265 A.D.) OB: Tai Ping Bai Qian (Taiping One Hundred Cash). This is a more common "goose eye" size coin within the scarcer series of Shu of the Three Kingdoms. The 'qian' here is abbreviated as 'jin'.
From Hartill ("Cast Chinese Coins"); The Tai Ping Qian coin was at first attributed to Sun Liang of the Kingdom of Wu, who adopted a Tai Ping year title in 256. Most have been found in a tomb in Sichuan, together with Zhi Bai coins, which indicate these are issues of the Kingdom of Shu. Others in this short series, the larger ones with fancy calligraphy, are typical of amulets, which Peng has associated with Taiping Taoist of the time. H# 11.25, FD 548, S 205. Weight is a mere .71 g and the diameter is 16mm.
