History of the Lira - 1946. I acquired this one because of the depiction of Ceres, described by KM as an "allegorical portrait". The center show Lira design after Kingdom turned to a Republic following WWII. The whole set would make an interesting series to collect. Also, the reverse is described as an 'apple', I'm not so sure it isn't a citrus of some sort. Italy is known for citrus, especially its lemons, and the fruit seem to be too round to be a apple - any thoughts?
You could consider the series as part of the Tribute to the Lira as the Euro system was adopted, similar to other of Europe and their tribute coins in precious metals.
