200th Anniversary of the French Republic (& The French Revolution). See the original design origins in the 1 Decime piece (1799) here in the France section of the Museum. This Copper-Nickel version was struck in huge quantities (30 M); others of the same design and denomination were struck in silver (30K), gold (5K), and platinum (2K).
