Extremely rare example of a 'Large Hammer & Sickle' Soviet Dollar from this rare location. This coin is not physically in this Museum. It is from the Ponterio sale of the Wa She Wong collection which sold in Dec 2010 in HK. This lot sold for about $94K! It's surely the most expensive Soviet issue coin I have ever seen. Other Red Army issues are even rarer #i.e. frontal 'Lenin' portrait dollar of the Soviet Republic#. Pictured here to 'round-out' the on-line Museum collection. Ex. Money Co HK sale of Sep. 1985. A listed date of 1935 makes this the last dated coin of the Soviet coin issues. Thereafter, they used paper money.
