A nearly flawless example of this iconic large gold type with velvety surfaces and an enticing rich golden color. During 1949-1972 a total of 3,975,654 pieces, most likely dated 1947, were restruck an an additional 473,900 pieces dated 1947 were restruck during 2000-2017. In 1996 matte restrikes were produced. NGC: 48 graded MS 69; twelve higher.

Description: Introduced in 1986, the popular and now-iconic American Eagle Silver Proof Coins are collector versions of the official United States Mint American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins. These popular silver collectibles are struck at the United States Mint, West Point, NY. The classic Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman featured on the coin’s obverse has long been a collector favorite. After 35 years, this famous design has been refreshed. Thanks to technological advancements in the design and minting process, Liberty now encompasses some of Weinman’s original details that were not previously possible. The reverse design is new. To give the new coins an added level of security, they have also been updated with enhanced security features, including a reeded edge variation. The obverse (heads) features a refreshed depiction of Adolph A. Weinman’s full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. For the 2021 coin, the United States Mint returned to its original historical assets to render a closer reflection of Weinman’s original vision that includes the addition of his traditional artist mark. The new reverse (tails) design features an eagle as it approaches a landing, carrying an oak branch, as if to add it to a nest. Inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." Each coin bears the “W” mint mark reflecting its striking at the West Point Mint. One troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Description: The Benjamin Franklin inspired design, originally struck at the Paris mint, makes another appearance in the wonderful bullion 2 oz (.999) silver issue. Please see the Paris Mint proof restrike here in the Bullion section. I ordered this one with the antique finish, which I must say, didn't come out as well as my Mercury Dime 2 oz. These have a fairly low mintage and the design is classic!

This design is rarely seen and is quite striking, don't you think? The Intaglio Mint produces these in limited quantities, some very limited, and the can sell out quickly. The contrast of the nude female with buffalo is unusual and presents a stark contrast. The reverse, true to the theme, presents Native Americans from both North & South America, as represented on their shields. I spent 5$ more to get this one for the "antiqued" version. This is a photo of the regular version, I must say the antique version is very well done. I'll post a photo but I'm not sure the effect will come through.

Description: This medal issued by the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint) is a replica of the "Libertas Americana" (Freedom for America) medals commissioned by Benjamin Franklin in 1792 to commemorate the American victories against the British in Yorktown and Saratoga. This Libertas Americana proof medal is struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 silver, its mintage is limited 10k. Other examples can be found in palladium, platinum, and gold with much lower mintages. These are so popular and important medals that they have been repeatedly restruck over the last decades. Originals [bronze] are extremely sought after and rare. Symbolic Designs by Esprit-Antoine Gibelin, sculpted by Augustin Dupre, Lady Liberty with flowing hair is featured on the obverse, beside a Phrygian cap on a pole. Description: I've been interested in this design since I found out about it with the first striking of the for the Liberia USA Tribute series gold $20 piece. In the mean time the US Mint re-issued the ulta-deep struck bullion piece that retained the original 1907 version without wings. However, the wonderful booklet that came with the coin detailed the plaster casts made by Saint Gaudens that featured a winged liberty. This bullion 1 oz. silver remake is faithful to that Winged Liberty (Victory) design and, like the original design, has the standing eagle on the reverse. This strike, by the Royal Mint (Wales), was sponsored by the National Park Foundation in conjunction with Saint Gaudens National Historical Society (New Hampshire).
