Description: The coin pictured is a smaller version of the one-tael coin produced by the Hong Kong mint as a proposed China trade coin. It was rejected by China, possibly because it carried the British royal coat of arms. The coin shown is 39.2mm diameter and weighs 25.3g. Beneath the royal atms on the reverse are the figures 982 - presumably silver purity - and g 366 - weight. While this is plainly not a genuine coin, it is very well made and interesting. Description: The photo shows 2 Northern Song Chong Ning Tong Bao 10 cash coins. The one on the left is Hartill 16.399, I am sure. The coin on the right is, I hope, Hartill 16.401 - large character variety. The difference in character size is particularly noticeable in the Chong and Bao. Left hand coin is 34.8mm, 12.4g. Right hand coin 34.7mm, 9.6g What do you experts think?

Description: Emperor Shun (Toghon Temur) 1333-68 Zhi Zheng Tong Bao 3 cash Rev: Shin in Mongol script - 1352 33.5mm, 13.5g Hartill 19.105 I am suspicious of this coin, and would appreciate any comments as to its authenticity. It is about the right size, but seems a bit heavy when compared with other examples on Xeno database. I suspect it may have been recast from an original coin. There are sand marks on the fields of both obverse and reverse.

Description: The pictured item was among a lot of Chinese coins recently received from a very reputable supplier (Only Linda). I'm sure I've seen a similar item somewhere, but can't find the reference. The piece measures 25mm x 16mm and weighs 2.9g. The reverse is flat and plain. What is it?

Description: Emperor Gao Zong (1736-95) Qian Long Tong Bao cast 1775-95 Ili mint, Xinjiang Diam: 24.8mm, 5.1g Reverse plain. Hartill H22.395 Large characters. Head of Tong sloping up. The coin has a less red appearance than other so-called red cash, probably because it is cast from alloy rather than pure copper. According to Hartill, this is 70% copper, 29% lead and 1% tin.
