Shows a nice rendition of the island. This was the only circulating silver coin the Taiwanese government made. I suspect they regret using the term 'Province' when their argument is that they are separate from China and not a province of it. Previously described at 50 cents. The interesting design theme here, for a collector of Chinese Soviet coins, is the the globe motif with map. This seems to have originated in China with medals issued during the Republic. That motif was used by the Communist Soviets to depict China, here the Republic of China prominently displays the Island of Taiwan. Some of the first coins of the ROC also depicted the Island but without the globe. Obverse / reverse are switched in the photo. Struck in silver, they can also be found struck in gold. It seems my reverse photo orientation is incorrect, the crosses should be vertical with the jointed harvests at 1 oclock, that means a 90 degree CCW turn.
