Description: This is a commemorative Revolution issue, not issued for circulation but in a denomination of 100 Piastres or 1 Pound Egyptian. Issued on the 3rd Anniversary of the 1952 Revolution, the 1957 issue celebrates the 5th year. The obverse features an ancient Egyptian war chariot with Pharaoh Ramses II shooting a bow. Lettering: ثورة ٢٣ يوليه ١٩٥٢ Translation: Revolution July 23 of 1952 Reverse: Vulture wings and cobra heads (symbols of Ancient Egypt) flanking the disk of the sun (God Amun Ra) Lettering: جمهورية مصر جينه واحد ١٣٧٤ - ١٩٥٥ Translation: Republic of Egypt One Pound 1955 - 1374 These iconic issues were first struck in 1955 and again in 1957. This 1955 issue had 16,000 struck and it's a very desirable coin. It was struck in yellow and red gold. I've never seen one that looked reddish, and at 10k struck, the 1957 is less seldom seen.

Description: Egypt under the United Arab Republic. OB: May 15 of 1964 Commemoration of Diversion of the Nile river. Rx: United Arab Republic 50 Qirsh 1964 1384. I assume this Nile diversion was necessary to build the Aswan Dam, and event that was also a theme on future coin issues. The diversion was also a theme on 5, 10, 25 Piastre (Qirsh) coins as well as 5 & 10 Pound coins. Mintage was 250k with 2k in proof.

Description: The Egyptian coins of the 1st Republic (1953 - 1958 AD) begin the tradition of presenting themes based upon the glory days of Ancient Egypt. The very first of 1954 show a ground level view of Sphinx, as a tourist might see it. This coin here celebrates the Evacuation of the British and shows a person in traditional Ancient Egyptian clothing with broken chains, holding a torch, and in a pose that evokes "follow me". It's reminiscent of Moses leading his people out of Egypt. This example is problem free, better ones are quite scarce, much luster shows but not in this photo.

Description: Issued under the British Protectorate and the Sultan Hussein Kamil. Decent condition, hard to find much better and a key date (2.9 M minted) and type 1 with inner circle. Here the mintmark "H" appears clearly on the ribbon knot (actually 'HB' for Heaton Birmingham). KM's SCWC only shows a mintmark for the Heaton mint on the 1917 type 2 (without inner circle), so that was an omission, for reasons unknown.
