Description: Greenland was discovered in 976 by a group of Norsemen led by Eric the Red who had been exiled from Iceland. Three settlements were established on the southern coast. These remained until the Ice Age came in and they were no longer able to sustain themselves. Official coinage for the island commenced in 1926 through 1964. There were a number of tokens issued by private companies from the mid 19th century well into the 20th century. This is an example of one of the token coinage, a 25 øre issued in 1922 by the Ivigtut Cryolite Mining and Trading Company.

Description: These were two, formerly Dutch; British colonies in northeast South America. In 1832 they were united with the Berbice colony to form British Guiana. Dutch denominations were used until 1835 when British subsidiary coinage was used. Groats (4 pence) pieces were issued for British Guiana and the West Indies from 1901 to 1916. From 1917 to 19045 Goats were issued solely for British Guiana.

Description: This is a very rare coin that I found in a mixed lot. The Royal Mint minted 5 million of these. Part of the mintage was melted in the UK to recover the copper for the war effort. The rest were shipped to Hong Kong on two ships. One made it but after the Japanese took Hong Kong in late December 1941, it supposedly rounded up all coinage and melted it to support their war effort. The second ship was sunk in transit to Hong Kong. Most say that less than 100 pieces are extant today which accounts for its rarity.

Description: This is a two year type coin, only minted in 1902 and 1903 and the only Italian coin of this denomination. While the mintages were large, it is a difficult coin to find. This one was in a mixed lot that I bought so was a pleasant surprise. The 20 centesimi pieces were minted for years and are extremely common.
